Custom Smocked Dress Giveaway (size 6-12 months) CLOSED

The top of the dress...white with lavender smocking and seed pearls.

CLOSED: Stacy WON!

My sister, Jeni, has two adorable daughters and has recently begun smocking. She does a lovely job and is making custom designed bishop dresses (which are great because they have a deep hem and can be worn for more then one year). She is selling them for $50, including shipping, which is a steal considering their prices in boutiques and considering the fact that you can possibly wear them for two years. My friend Burgundy's daughters wore their bishop style dresses for two Christmases.
As a way to get her business out there, she is doing a giveaway on my blog! She is giving away one 6-12 month white dress smocked with lavender thread and having seed pearl accents. It is in the process of getting made, and when it is done, I will post a picture. Until then, you can simply leave a comment here saying what your favorite outfit for a kid to wear is, what your favorite blogs to read are (as if I don't have enough already!) or tell me about your day. Don't just put "Pick me" or "I hope I win" because I will delete the post...let's make my life interesting, okay?
Extra entries if you follow my blog (button on bottom left) or follow me on twitter (JessieLeigh1979). (Don't forget to post a separate comment for each thing you do...these only count one time, too, not once per day!). For 100 extra entries, order a dress from Jeni!
You may enter the contest once a day (better start thinking of some great things to tell me!) until the end of the contest, March 28. The winner must contact me by April 1st or you lose and someone else wins. The dress will be mailed out as soon as you contact me so you will have it for Easter. Even if you don't have a little girl it will fit, you might have a friend having a baby and this would make an EXCELLENT shower gift.
To contact Jeni about ordering a dress, simply email me (r-family at hotmail dot com) and I will forward the info on to her so she can get in touch with you.
Good luck!

My favorite thing for Peyton to wear right now is a preppy striped button up shirt over top of a plain white tee paired with dark denim and his loafer/sneakers. I also like to spike his hair a little so he looks just like a little man!

Favorite blogs to read right now are: C Jane Enjoy It, NieNie Dialogues, Blog Segullah, What Mormons Like, Design Mom, D-Dawg's Blog and the Jolly Porter.

My day was outstanding! I had a list of about 7 errands to run today for Peyton's party tomorrow and because Troy stayed home {after his grueling BAR week} we were able to get every last thing accomplished which always feels great! Sometimes I'll make lists just to check stuff off so I feel like I've done something but in today's case, I REALLY did do something!

P.S. I would totally order a dress from Jeni if I had not just blown nearly $200 on bows and outfits for Chloë this last week. But I will definitely keep Jeni in mind for making Chloë a Christmas dress! :-)

I LOVE smocked dresses!!! Josh & I finally had our "Valentine's" date tonight. I'm glad it was delayed, because Cheesecake Bistro is having a Lenten special: 2 soups or salads, 2 seafood entrees(you get 6 choices) and a slice of heavenly cheesecake for only $29.99. Can you believe it? I'm still stuffed and we ate 5 hours ago!! Oh wait, that's my uterus.

Hahahah...when I looked at my blogger "dashboard" this morning to see which blogs I follow updated, I saw the first line of this post "My sister, Jeni, has two adorable daughters and has recently begun smocking." and thought it said she recently begun SMOKING!" I was like what the heck, Jeni!?"

Those smocks are beautiful! Jeni's got a knack for this!

I forgot to enter yesterday. AHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHHH! Here I am after a long day of a hectic morning getting the boys and myself ready for 9am church, leaving right after sacrament then driving to NO to visit Josh's grandpa "Poppy" in the hospital. Nathan Asay was at church with his WIFE today. Doesn't that make you feel old?!

My favorite thing to dress my beautiful, little, newborn girl is a fancy dress of any sort. Now this may seem very logical and normal, but when you consider she is my first girl after 3 boys, it makes a lot more sense.

I didn't leave the house today until 3pm to go get Ayden. It was nice. Ian stayed in his pjs all day. I made a new hair bow for Afton. It may or may not match this dress.

as for my day..much better than yesterday...I had a killer headache that started when I went to bed the night before and did not go away until well after dinner time. (I suspect it's my stinkin' blood pressure acting up as it tends to in my final trimesters...whatcha gonna do, right?)

Stacy Hutchinson said...

Here I am again. Can you tell that I really like this dress? I got my results from my glucose test today. My levels were too high, so I have the wonderful 3 hour test to look forward to. GOO.

Stacy Hutchinson said...

It's me. Not much to report. We had a play date at City Park today. The weather was PERFECT! Ian takes his naps in my bed, which is covered in sand right now. Ick.

I just got back from book club. We read Inkheart. I didn't quite finish it, but I will soon. I had to take the boys with me. That will NOT happen again. I thought at least being there would be better than staying home, but it was not a pleasant experience. The whole purpose of the book club is to talk about the book, but I was barely in on any of the conversation, because Ian was ready for bed and crying over everything and Ayden was eating the creme out of his oreos and making a huge mess with the black cookies leftover. Now they are both in bed and I'm trying to calm down.

Day two of no sugar or carbs. I'm actually doing okay. Better than I thought I'd be, although I DID dream about a big chocolate cake last night. It had those store bought hard icing flowers around the bottom and I would crunch on those, then get a big finger full of chocolate icing. Then I woke up. No fair!

MommyRU said...

The kids actually let me lay down and veg for a few hours today..loved it...did not love discovering that I forgot to buy lent appropriate protein for dinner tonight(and I don't want to get out of my pjs to go to Hyvee..lol)...so grilled cheese it is, I guess.={

I'm back to enter today, because that dress is gorgeous. It would make one of the pregnant moms I know very happy to get that at her baby shower.

Wow what a great talent. Smocking is beautiful. I am loving Spring Fling.I love to see my nieces no matter what they are wearing, but my sisters little girl can wear a pair of bib overalls that my mom had embroidered on for my sister to wear when she was little. Everytime I see my niece wearing them it makes me happy. So cute . Mom did a great job on these bibs. They have cats, and dog heads, and meow and Arf, all kinds of stuff. Adorable.
Thanks for the giveaway

I love smocked dresses. I actually smock too, but after three boys I've put my passion and creativity fully into sewing rather than embroidery. One of my fave blogs is The Perlman Update, partially because I know and love the family and partially because she is a hoot. I currently author two blogs myself: my family blog is Trifecta at www.triffecta.com and my sewing blog, Spellbound Seamstress at http:spellboundseamstress.blogspot.com

Honestly, today has been pretty typical. I woke up with my 2 and a half year old begging to go down stairs for breakfast, my one year old fussing and needing a baba and my 4 and a half year old wanting to eat cookies for breakfast. By 8:50 a.m. we were out of the house and heading to preschool. Now, the baby is down for a morning nap and I'm checking out blogs, email and facebook....Good times! In a few minutes I'll be off to cost co to shop for three insatiable boys and Tommy's first birthday party this weekend! Thought for the day? I guess it would have to be that life is full of possibilities if only you can balance your spirituality with your insurmountable "to do" list. Anything can be accomplished if your heart and mind are centered! Have a fantastic day!

Hey! I just found your blog today! Looks beautiful.I'm in the queue for a blog makeover from Sara- and seeing what a great job she did on yours makes me excited!

As for baby clothing- my daughter Molly is 7 months old, and is growing so fast! She's in the 90th percentile for growth. So clothes that have added room, and ability to grow with her are invaluable! I love to dress her in kind of old fashioned looks, pinafores and pinks and whites:)

I'm back again! Today was so beautiful out! YAY! We grilled today before hubby went to work. By we I mean me, while he cleaned up the yard and the girls played. Then I went with the girls to the park and had a nice walk. We saw an old man feeding squirrels. The silly little things would come right up to him and take nuts from his hand, run and hide them, and come back for more!! Then back home to more playing in the yard. Needless to say I had a dirt ring in my tub tonight =P

I just had a knock at the door. It was a young man trying to sell items out of a tote for a fundraiser. He handed me a laminated piece of paper that explains it while he went through the tote. It says all items $7.50 Please No Donations. Hmmm...isnt that what they are basically asking for anyway?! I mean an 8 pack of reeses peanut butter cups doesnt exactly cost $7.50!

It was our turn to babysit tonight with our swap we do with the Cupits and Woods. I'm so glad we had sunlight for so long, because we spent most of the time-3 hours, 6 kids-outside. Poor Brant skinned his knees pretty bad. I felt really bad about it, but what's life without a few skinned knees, right?

Hello! Back again. I love personal blogs. They are so intriguing and funny. The girls and I had another nice walk at the park today. It was a bit breezy but we got excercise still. That dress is so darn cute...I hope I win!!

I've done the past two posts before this one. Does my endurance count for anything? I found some trendy looking moo-moos at Target today for lounging around the house postpartum. I might do a post about them, they're so cute and comfy. They both button down the front for easy nursing access.

So, I typed you a big long story about my most embarrassing mom moment to date and my fear that it was going to be repeated this morning only to have my post disappear without ever showing up in your comments. This is why there is a post from me saying "follower" without this first one. Hopefully you don't delete the follower one thinking I was lazy and skipping a step.

Instead of retyping it, I'm going to tell you a story of my smocked dresses. I have 2 dresses that my grandmother had smocked for me when I was a little girl - one of them I wore as a toddler and one of them in grade school (gr. 2/3 I think). She had made them both for me before she passed away when I was 3. She only ever got to see me wear one of them. My mom saved them and when I found out I was pregnant with a little girl, I almost cried when I pulled them out of the chest they were stored in. I remembered how special they were to me when I was little and can't wait for my daughter, who is 1 month old today, to be able to wear them.
