Coming Home

So, we are planning on coming home for a few weeks in May. We have a jam-packed agenda, but I hope I get to see all of you guys!!! We'll have to try really hard to get together...I saw hardly anybody during Christmas. We'll be around from about the middle of May to the end of the month. Then...we might fly to FL to visit Jamie! (I still am trying to convince myself to spend the few extra $$$'s and go...I think we will, but I am still a bit hesitant.)

Our little monkey

Gorgeous Weather

Thank goodness...Finally, some gorgeous weather. The sun is shining, the wind isn't blowing, snow is melting everywhere you look...spring is right around the corner!
Today we actually went outside without coats on.
Now, don't go getting all excited, thinking it's in the 60's or something...nope, just 38 degrees, but for some reason, it feels WARM! I guess that compared to -10 w/ the wind chill, that is warm. Man, summer is going to be so HOT...I can hardly wait.

One Year

Today is the one year anniversary of us becoming home owners...I really don't know why they call it that, most of us do not "own" our homes at all...we're just paying someone else.
I have to say, I do love my home. I just wish that darn dead tree in the front yard would disappear all by itself. Other then that, we're doing pretty good, and glad we decided to buy.

What's in the Box?

I seem to have started a tradition...a picture ordering tradition. I used to order pictures frequently, never going more then two or three months without having the most current pictures on hand. Then...along came baby #2, AKA Jackson. It seems that having two little ones takes a bit more time then one, and I find myself ordering pictures once a year. So, as you can imagine, the order I placed was rather large...as you can see from the rather large box. I don't think this is a good tradition...shipping wasn't exactly an inexpensive flat rate (though they were .06 cents a print) and I don't like to be so far behind in my scrapbooking. Maybe, just maybe, if I get caught up with all the treasures in this box I'll be able to to do as I did before life got a lot more fun and be really up to date in the scrapbooking department...

A girl can dream, can't she?

Where is Thumb-kin?

Today has been crazy. I am feeling a little blah, Bart has the flu, and the boys were everywhere.
Well, we finally put the boys to bed and we were settling down to watch a movie when the interruptions from Brennan began. He came out of his room to go to the bathroom, to tell us his butt itched (and that he had put on new p.j.'s in the dark), and finally, that "Tall Man needs clipped Mama."
After quickly clipping "Tall Man", I sent him to bed...with the threat that if we saw his face for any reason before the sun came back up, we'd throw Star-Wars Legos in the trash...forever!
We haven't heard a peep since...

Brennan's Thoughts Spoken Outloud

Bren "Abraham Lincoln is on the penny. And I wonder why he's on the dollar, too."
Bart "He's not on the dollar. Do you know who Abraham Lincoln was?"
Bren "I'll show you when my penny was made. It was made in 1962. That's pretty old."
Bart "That's older than Dad."
...
Bren "46 years. Whoa!"

Bren "President's day is...I don't have a clue. It's just when presidents come."
Jess "come where?"
Bren "To church. To teach people. President's Day is all about presidents."

Just a "regular" family

Today Brennan's primary teacher had a questionnaire she filled out for each student. She asked things such as "What is your mommy's name?" and "I like to eat ____ with my family."
Anyways, the last fill in the blank was, "My family is ________."
His answer?
Regular...is this in reference to his recent bout of constipation?

Memory Loss

I seem to be suffering from memory loss today. I totally forgot that I am going scrapbooking tonight, that I need to turn in Bart's "Innovative Research" paperwork, and that I need to go to the grocery store to get the rest of the stuff for v.day cookies for a play group.
Good thing Bart remembered...which is weird...because it's usually me running through a list for him.

If I have to clean up because of encopresis and Brennan's current "condition" one more time...I will GO CRAZY!!!

Oh, and you probably don't want to go reading about what is up with Brennan either...cause it ain't pretty and you don't want your kids to experience it.

Fun with our New Sled

Be Prepared...the following video contains the use of the phrase "Oh Crap" a lot.

Now, a lot of fun has been had at Bart's expense on this blog. Prepare yourselves...this video will have you pee your pants, just a little...and it's not Bart's fault.

We learned a few valuable lessons from this experience: don't crash your brand new vinyl sled into a chain length fence...it will pop...and don't sled into a chain length fence...it will bend it.

Oh, and in case you are worried about the awesome sled...I patched it up good as new tonight and hope it will work tomorrow.

enliven your sense of smell

As we entered Wal-Mart for the dreaded bi-weekly grocery shopping trip, Brennan got very excited.
"What is that GREAT smell Mommy?"
What?
"It's just the way Wal-Mart smells Brennan."
"No. What is it? It smells sweet."
And we were off...sniffing deeply and identifying all the smells of Wal-Mart, from popcorn and fresh bread at Subway to the produce to the animal care products. Everything has a smell...and it was our mission today to figure out what it was.
So, take a minute and smell the roses. You might just be surprised at how new and exciting the mundane becomes.

Painting and the Devil

For some strange reason, I decided it was time to turn my craft room into a thing of beauty. We bought the house with the baseboards and ceiling of this room being painted a lovely shade of blue. And by lovely, I mean I am on my third coat of primer and I have started to wonder if this is magical paint that is so proud of its colors that it refuses to be covered...
I'll be glad when I am done. And by I, I mean me, no help from Bart...he's not really what you'd call a "painter". He's more of a "Can we hire someone to paint because I can't participate in things the Devil invented" type of guy.
Good thing I'm a "We aren't wasting our money on something that we can do ourselves, even if it does make us crazy" kind of girl.
