Escape from the Zoo

Tonight Brennan came downstairs about 1/2 an hour after being put to bed, shaking.
Me: "Brennan, what's wrong?"
B: "My sleeping bag looks like a gorilla got out of the zoo."

Can't make this stuff up, folks.

Dinner and a Movie

A full belly and good movie make Brennan sleepy. (not kool-aid mustache...he had milk for dinner, so I am not sure where that came from...)
Jackson loved dessert...homemade bread pudding with lots of extras.

After having such an adventure packed week, we've taken the weekend nice and slow. Tonight, as a treat, we ordered Papa John's pizza, gave the kids a bath while we waited on delivery, got everyone in their P.J's (even mom and dad) and spread out a blanket on the floor for dinner and a movie. The Bee Movie, to be exact.
It was nice, quiet, relaxing...just what was needed after a fun filled week!

Our Big Week with PawPaw Ronnie

Monday:
Waiting for Ronnie and Bart to finish checking out the book sale/tourist information place...
We checked out the Pony Express Musuem, built inside the first Pony Express Barn in St. Joseph, MO
Checking out an exhibit
The Remington's pose in front of a Remington...
Ride 'em cowboy Jack!
In front of the Pony Express Stables.
A replica of the gun Robert Ford used to kill Jesse James
The whole under the cross-stitching is the bullet hole...people have chipped away at it over the years, so it is a lot larger than it originally was.
The Remington's in front of the James home...it was moved from it's original location to this spot in the 70's (I think).

Tuesday:
At the Kingdoms of the Night Exhibit...Brennan's favorite

Hanging out in the jungle...the one place in all of Omaha that is always WARM!

Jellyfish
The cake I baked and decorated for the Relief Society birthday. I covered it in light blue fondant that I made myself.

Wednesday:
We started Wednesday off with a play date at the park with the Roundy's. Thanks for meeting us there...we had a blast!
On our way to Lincoln, the boys got a case of the sticker poxs.
We toured the University of Nebraska football stadium. We watched the UNL Cornhuskers beat UNC...but we left at the end of the 6th inning...it was just getting too windy/cold.

We had a VERY busy week with Ronnie, Bart's dad. We probably put 500 miles on the car in two or three days. We saw one of the original Pony Express Stables, Jesse James' house (where he was killed), the zoo, and the Mormon Trail Center. We ate at Famous Dave's BBQ, Culver's, and Raising Cane's in Lincoln. At Famous Dave's, no one noticed that Brennan came in in just his socks...until we were leaving. So much for "No shoes, no shirt, no service". We celebrated Easter and Ronnie and Jack's birthday's. And, we even had time to watch a LOT of March madness NCAA Basketball.

All in all, we had a blast and we are already missing Ronnie...and he just left this morning! Come back soon PawPaw!

Our Big Plans

So, just an update on our summer adventures (part one)
The boys and I are renting a car and driving to Katy, Tx on May 12. Then, on May 15, we will be chauffered to LA by my awesome dad! We'll be in LA until June 10, when we fly out of Jackson, MS to Omaha!
So, I hope I get to see all of you then...the only tiny glitch to my plans is that I will not have a full access pass to a car like I did last summer...so, I will have to make "mini" trips to see all my favorite people in Baton Rouge and the surrounding areas...unless you want to come visit me in VIDALIA!

Our Easter

We had an okay Easter. It sure was cold, though, so we did our egg hunt inside.

Zoo Trip on Good Friday

We didn't let the near freezing temperatures or bitterly cold winds stop us from attending our MOM play date at the zoo on Good Friday. Nor did we let the extremely large crowds (from the NCAA basketball tourney that is going on down the street from the zoo) slow us down, either. We met up with a large group of friends, and as we set out, our group slowly grew smaller and smaller as satellite groups went off to explore less crowded indoor features of the zoo.
Brennan became attached to Aidan and they were the best of friends as they explored the desert, the creatures of the night, the jungle, and the underwater world together. You can see in the pictures that the two were rarely apart.
Both of my boys (well, all the kids, really) were extremely well behaved (compared to past trips) and listened great (except Jackson, who got banished to the stroller. Overall, it was a great trip and worth fighting the bitter elements to go.

Easter Fun

Bart's dad, Ronnie, got here last night! He is going to stay for a week. The boys are ecstatic to have him here with them. This morning, Jackson was peeking out the window yelling for "Pawpaw!" I guess he thought he'd left!

from brennan's mind:

Said during his prayer tonight:

"And thank you that the police do not rob Grandpa and Uncle Beau."

1. He says thank you not please bless.
2. They are driving here tonight.

FYI...MS Walk

You don't have to donate to repost, but make sure you leave a comment on the post below so I will know you did it and enter you to win that fabulous (wink) prize.
Because of our great success in the first day...we upped our goal to $1000 and may even surpass that!

Help us raise funds for MS and you could win a prize!

As many of you know, Bart was diagnosised with MS in the spring of 2002. We are participating in an MS Walk on April 13 to help raise money for not only for a cure, but for education and help for those affected by this as well. Please take a minute and donate a few dollars. (You don't have give $35, just click "other amount") You can donate as little or as much as you want. We will appreciate it so much. Our goal is to raise $500.

To mail a check on Bart's behalf, please make payable to the National MS Society and put Bart Remington in the memo line. Send to: Nebraska Chapter NMSS * 7101 Newport Avenue Suite 304 * Omaha, NE 68152

I am going to having a drawing for a fabulous prize for all those who post some form of this on their blog and spread the word on helping our team raise funds. Please make sure to leave a comment on this post if you add a sidebar or write a post about donating to the MS walk in Bart's name. Make sure you copy the links correctly so others can donate to Bart Remington.
If others post it on their blog from yours, then they can be entered as well (so spread the word and tell them where to go), as long as they leave a comment on this post linking me to their site. I will hold the drawing on April 12, the day before the MS walk. The prize will be a $25 gift certificate to Target. Yeah, it's not a ton...but I have to donate for MS, too!

You want some of me?

Jackson, in the middle of attacking a bake sale cupcake...covered in the fluffy orange icing ever. I don't know if that shirt will ever be the same.

I especially love the chocolate "tear" under his eye from an Easter candy.

Spring is in the Air

Yesterday we had a very full and active day. Brennan and I went to kindergarten round-up at his future elementary school where he met his future teachers. Then we picked up Jackson and headed off to Chuck E. Cheese where we spent the rest of our tokens we got last time we went. Brennan met up with Lillia, one of the girls from my mom's group, and those two had a blast. We even ran into Tanaya at CEC, a girl from his preschool whom he claims to see everywhere, but never actually does...until yesterday! Then Brennan was off to school, Jackson to nap, and me to clean...afterwards we went to the grocery store and then the park...for the first time in a LONG time! The boys had a blast playing outside with no coats on, and I enjoyed not worrying about Jack falling in the snow or something.
So, all in all, it was a very full day and we are enjoying doing nothing today...what tomorrow has in store is another thing.

drooling

I am drooling, my kitchen smells so good. I am cooking a lot of roast...so tomorrow it can be turned into roast beef po boys with au 'jus...let's just say I CAN HARDLY WAIT! (I like the po boy part way more then just the roast part, but that's a lot of bread/carbs to be putting on my fat butt to eat poboys twice in a row)

I'm so glad I got to taste Clark's po-boys while I was in FL...I came home and immediately tried to make them. Mine are good (just ask Bart!), but not nearly as good as Clark's. So, Jamie girl, if you read this, ask your old pop to send me an email, or give me a way to contact him, so I can try to make mine as wonderfully awesome as his!

Highs and Lows

I just checked weather.com and the 10 day outlook doesn't have it going below 32 for the high once! High 30's, 40's, and 50's HERE WE COME!!!!!

Prep Work

This coming Saturday the mom's group I belong to is having an Easter egg hunt and bake sale. I am baking a cake for the sale and this afternoon I worked on the eggs that are to go around the side of the cake. They are made of fondant (which Brennan kept wanting to eat...gross kid!) and not perfectly oval, but they will do fine for the side of a cake, right?
Stay tuned for the finished product...

something is wrong with the picture uploader, but I'll go ahead and post this so I will remember to upload them later.
it only let me do one. then it gave me an error message...weird. anybody else having problems today with that?

Peep Show

Thanks Aunt Jane. This made me laugh...a lot.

Snow

It has come to my attention that there has recently been a bit of snow in the southern region of my fan base.
Quit being so excited...I am tired of snow and I don't want for all your excitement to encourage more to fall...on me.
Today it was FIVE DEGREES as I drove to a playdate at 10 a.m. FIVE...not fifty, but FIVE. It is currently 19, feels like 13.
So, for all of you excited about snow, I just want you to realize the blessing you have to actually be excited about snow...to not dread it and worry that it'll be a BIG snowstorm that has you homebound for a day or two, going crazy...

But, still, take lots of pictures, because you might not get many snowy opportunities to do so in TX and LA (Justin, did you take pictures? If so, post 'em for the family to see!) Oh, and I hope you guys realize I'm just kidding...I'm glad you got snow, b/c it is pretty fun at first...I just don't want another inch or two or ten this winter...

Apron give-away

While cruising blogs, I found this and need to share so I can win one of these! Wouldn't it make housekeeping fun?

Cross your fingers for me!

Bowling

So, we were going to go bowling here Friday night with some great friends, but when I called to find out about how to get a lane without having to wait forever...I was informed that 1/2 of the 40 lanes were reserved for league bowling and the other 1/2 were reserved for parties...What???? You cannot tell me that the league is paying more then my $25 an hour for that lane. And, how do you book every single lane in advance for the weekend when everybody is going to want to go? And, who is so dorky and such a loser that they are doing league bowling on a Friday night? (Sorry if any of you out there do league bowling on a Friday night...if so, please post pictures and tell us how good you are!)

Now what are we going to do Kim and Raghav?

Dentist

Brennan has five cavities...I am so embarrassed. Because he isn't really your "ideal" patient, he will have to go to an "outpatient site" to have the dental work done. Ugh.

Monsters

I seem to have inherited two monsters today. They kidnapped the boys, and I am wondering when a ransom note will come...I am willing to do anything to give these monsters back and get my two sweet, angelic boys back.

Caller I.D

Don't you just love it? I know I do!

Looking Back

So, Lexi tagged Jessica, yet she has two Jessica's on her list, so I'll just be cocky and assume it meant me!

Twenty Years ago I was: 8, my dad was in Korea, and we lived in a haunted house in Ridgecrest, LA.

Ten Years ago I was: 18, a senior at Vidalia High School, and I had just got my driver's license. My mom bought Sherman the tank from someone's front yard for $250 and I had a car that was on life support. (well, it was my dad's car, but I got to drive it sometimes...whoa.)

Five Years ago I was: 23, pregnant, and teaching middle school reading. I wonder if any of those kids are at Angola yet?

Three Years ago I was: 25, trying to get pregnant, loving being a full time mommy.

One Year ago I was: 27, had just moved to Omaha, NE, was unpacking my house, and really missing Louisiana...and wondering if we'd made a HUGE mistake.

Yesterday I was: 28, excited about the wonderful weather, cleaning up for the BBQ we were having, and wondering if the snow will ever all go away.

Today I am: still 28 (go figure:-), tired from a long evening last night, glad church went relatively smoothly, really cold compared to yesterday.

Tomorrow I will be: still 28 (yippie!), cleaning the toy room with the boys, and enjoying NE and my family.

I tag Melissa and Jeni C.

Heartbreaker

This is Joss. She and her family came over for a BBQ last night. (Many thanks to Bart for a delicious dinner, by the way) So, she and Jackson are good little friends (remember this picture from January?) and had a good time playing. Joss is the one name (other then Mom or Dad) that Jackson can actually say, too.
So, this morning Jackson is coming downstairs and is saying, "Joss, Joss" over and over again. He looks at the table and couch...where did that girl go? Well, I told Jackson that Joss went home to go to bed last night and he immediately runs to the front door and starts pounding on it yelling "JOSS!" again.

Could this be true love?????

It's Business Time

We're all adults here...so, enjoy!

Don't forget to pause the music player on the right!
