I ♥ a baby that holds his own bottle

I am weaning Ethan. It has been/is a slow process, one feeding at a time, stretched out over however long I want it to be. I am thinking of getting him down to nursing once first thing in the morning and then last thing at night. (Have any of you done that? How did it work?)
Yesterday I was holding Ethan when noticed he was holding his bottle, too. I put him on the floor and sure enough, he laid there and ate the whole thing!
I was very excited...my right wrist keeps having a stabbing pain that comes and goes, so him developing this skill was okay by me.
Can you believe he will be six months old next Monday?
Time sure flies....

5 Words to brighten my day:

with brooklyn i went cold turkey on breat feeding and went straight to bottle. i pumped for a few days to releive pressure. i say if he'll drink the bottle cut off the boob.

It took Peyton FOREVER to learn that trick. Boy was it nice when he did. However, he still won't drink a sippy cup sitting up and doesn't know how to sip through a straw no matter how many times we've tried to show him how. I figure maybe he'll eventually get it when we can talk him through it. There's just no talking him through it right now- he just doesn't or won't at least try to understand! Way to go Ethan!

I've been thinking about just giving Kylee formula from here on out. I'm wanting my body back. At least my boobs. And I'm tired of eating and eating to keep up with it. I mean...6 months..she's gotten quite a few nutrients from me..I shouldn't feel guilty, right?

Wow that's impressive Leo was almost a year before he would hold his bottle. I weaned Leo down to just nursing first thing in the morning and at night last August, when it got so busy at work that pumping was impossible. We continued that until Easter weekend this year. When he bit me so hard I wanted to cry. Then we stopped cold turkey.

That's cute that he does it himself. I never experienced that with my kiddos. By the time they drank from a cup they damn sure better be able to hold it!! I never gave a bottle. They were BF the first year without any supplementing. Even went on to feed till 18 months...
