The Tooth Fairy Came

Brennan lost his first teeth. I bet Friday, Bart-Saturday, and Brennan-Sunday. Bart won the bet. I will not go into the details of the teeth (Oh, yes...both bottom middle teeth came out within ten minutes of each other!) popping (literally) out. And yes, now I feel old.
It wasn't gross, but then again, it was because I have this "it's no longer attached to your body so that is disgusting" phobia. This goes for cut hair, fingernails, teeth...anything that was once attached and is now free makes me want to hurl.
Bren's kindergarten teacher allows the children to bring in the teeth they lose to show them off. This presented a problem for Brennan because the Tooth Fairy, smart lady that she is, comes the day the tooth is lost. Since the teeth fell out on the weekend, Brennan was very worried he would not be able to bring the teeth to school to show them off. (Is that really such a bad thing?)
I told him to think of a solution for this problem of his. Smart kid that he is decides to leave her a note. Because he asked me to spell every word for him so the Tooth Fairy would know without a shadow of a doubt what he was requesting, it was a short and to the point note.
It read:

Tooth Fairy,
Leave my teeth until Monday.
Brennan

I am NOT going to spend an hour helping him spell out a sappy note that will just be scrapped (either in a book or the trash...depends on my mood). I'm just not that good of a mom.
So, the note worked, Brennan got $6 ($5 for the first tooth, $1 for the second...he bought Captian Underpants Book 2), and the Tooth Fairy came last night to retrieve the teeth.

Now...my questions...
1. What do I do with the teeth (remember my phobia) and what did your mama do with your teeth?
2. What are you planning on doing/are you doing as teeth fall out? How much money does the Tooth Fairy bring? Or does the Tooth Fairy bring presents, like a new toothbrush and toothpaste? I was going to do that as part of the T.F. present, but then Brennan saw the toothbrush in the grocery bag and I was busted.
3. Do you remember your first lost tooth? I remember loosing mine, but this post is long enough...I'll share that story on another day.

And...don't forget to scroll down and entire BECKY's JEWELRY GIVEAWAY!

13 Words to brighten my day:

I'm with you, it's kind of gross to look at/ hold onto things that were once attached to your body. I'm pretty sure the tooth fairy will just toss the teeth for us.

Your tooth fairy is rich! I guess with inflation that's about right, though. My mom saved all of my teeth, then found them one day in her closet, showed them to me, and with my express permission (or rather command), trashed them! I don't know what we'll do.

Trash 'em. Bio-hazard.

I say keep the first one(in your case two)and last one because those are both big deals, but trash the rest. I'm thinking about leaving cool coins like the Half Dollar and Sacajawea Dollar. I think I only got a quarter for my teeth. There has definitely been some inflation.

P.S. I want to see some pictures of baby Ethan.

i would trash it. i don't think anything that has once been on your body but is now off is worth keeping. even "baby's first hair cut". to me it's gross. would you display it? what would be done. i think a picture of it is sufficient enough.

Saving body parts reminds me of that dinner scene in "Meet the Fockers" LOL!
I say take a picture of the teeth to save the memory and throw the real ones away.
My mom didn't save my teeth and I'm glad she didn't because I would have no idea what to do with them.

I have kept McKenna's first one. I don't really know why but figured she might want to see it when she is older. Although my parents didn't keep mine and I'm ok with it, so do whatever feels right to you.

Yeah, I say trash the teeth. The tooth fairy always brought us $1 and a pack of gum. I don't know where my mom got the gum idea. Until I was older, i thought everyone got gum.

I haven't been the sentimental Mom type with Peyton at all. Someone once asked me if I had saved a snip from his first hair cut and I told them no. Maybe if I had a girl and she had some cute ringlets I might have saved the first cut but Peyton's first cut was just a bunch of fuzz. My great grandmother saved ringlets of every haircut my grandma had as a little girl. My Mom now has the box somewhere with these piles of curls with ribbons tied off on the ends. It makes my stomach turn to see that box of hair. Ugh! I'm with everyone else- save the first if you'd like but I wouldn't start a collection- could you imagine a whole jar of teeth? Creepy!

P.S- My Mom didn't save my teeth either. I'm not sure what I'll do when Peyton loses his teeth. I think my Mom maybe gave me a quarter for the first few teeth until I wised up about things like Santa Claus, the Easter Bunny and the Tooth Fairy. Then she didn't give me anything at all. :-( She tried to stop doing stockings for Christmas and Easter Baskets for Easter but I put up too much of a fuss. Eventually she did quit those too but as an adult, I have revived them with Troy and of course now Peyton too. Isn't that what memories are all about? I ♥ traditions! I like the idea of tooth fairy gifts- that could be fun. Whatever you decide to do, I'm sure Brennan will always remember it. Have fun with it!

Cute blog! Love this post. We're not quite at the tooth losing stage but I'm going to start thinking about what we'll do. LOVE his note - so smart!

I can not STAND cut fingernails, grosses me out to NO end, so I feel you. I would say, save these, put them in his baby book or something. As for the rest? Chuck them.

My parents were looking for something at their house and found a whole stash of baby teeth LOL. They aren't sure if they were mine, my brothers, or both!
