What is too much?

How much television is just too much?
I was listening to one of the local radio shows this morning as the two d.j.'s went back and forth about wishing they had 3 DVR channels and wondering how one of the d.j.'s survived with just one t.v.
Well, folks, we've had one t.v. for YEARS and seem to be doing just fine.
We don't have tivo or DVR or even a VCR to record things on and guess what...we function and survive JUST FINE.
The female d.j. was complaining because her husband erased her shows she had saved, or would change stations and interrupt the recording of one show. Now, I can see how this would piss you off, but seriously, to say you need to be able to record two shows so you can watch a third?
REALLY?
I don't even think three shows come on at one time that I would like to watch.
Now, Thursday nights do present a dilemma. IF we had two televisions (well, we have a second one my friend gave us as a trade for a cake but the cable is not hooked up), then Bart could watch something if he wanted. Instead, he plays around on the computer. I watch Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. BUT, I want to watch The Office and My Name Is Earl at the same time. SO, I have to switch channels during commericals. IF we had a DVR, I'd just record one and watch the other. BUT, I can watch them on the internet, if I really feel I must see the show I missed. (We have done this for Scrubs...we keep forgetting it is on!)
Other then Thursday night, I have never had the desire to record a show other then what I was currently watching.
Maybe it is just because I've never had DVR that I don't know what I am missing. Maybe I am just old fashioned and believe you don't need to watch a zillion hours of t.v. a week. I don't know. But I do know...my boys won't be getting t.v.'s in their rooms (obviously we don't have one in ours)...they are already little television junkies...I shudder to think of them being able to watch a show WHENEVER THEY WANTED. They'd never come out!

So, what's your take on DVR's, a good number of t.v.'s for a house to have (I do have to say, I ♥ the fact that Brian's new house has a t.v. in the bathroom and a theater in the basement...so, B&K, you are exempted from that question. I mean, if I had a t.v. while on the toilet...watch out world, I might never leave!) and what are your favorite shows you hate to miss? Do you have overlapping shows? What is your solution?

The Return of Not Me Monday!

Not ME Monday is BACK! Thank heavens Baby Stellan is doing better and able to return home.
Go to My Charming Kids blog to get the low down on how to do a proper NOT ME Monday.

  • I did NOT make Brennan leave his second ever baseball game to go scrapbooking. No, I let him play all three painfully slow energizing innings of coach pitch ball.
  • I did NOT bribe Brennan away from his game with promises of donuts from Wenchills. Next time I pick Krispy Kreme.
  • Once at The Scrapbook Store (really it's name) I did NOT scrapbook for more then 13 hours, coming up for air only to pump, potty, and eat.
  • I did NOT leave Bart to deal with all three kids, while I was blissfully unaware of the poop, pouting, and play time.
  • I did NOT dump the milk I pumped down the sink when I got home. No, that would be wasteful.

  • Ethan did NOT poop all over me, the carpet, himself, his onesie and his diaper. Nope. Oh, and then I did NOT discover a small spot of poo on the back of my khaki capris today at the park. No, I do NOT wear the same pants to dinner one night and then all day the next.
  • I do NOT have dishes piled to the sky in my sink right now, calling me...or more like sending out sweet scents of funk to get my attention. I always have a perfectly clean home.
  • A large portion of my children's lunch today was NOT the new GIANT Cheeto Balls at the park. Nope. Also, they did NOT eat them with their dirty hands, one ball at a time while I was blissfully unaware of their sneak ways until I spied the cheese faces and fingers.

Winner

I am awake.
Really, I am.
Diana dropped me off around 1:15 this morning, after a FULL day of baseball and scrapbooking. Then, I stayed up talking with Bart a bit.
Then, I had to get up, bathe three stinky boys (and Bart got thrown in there, too, but I did NOT bathe him), get all of us ready for church, and then GO to church for THREE hours!

And...
I made...

24 pages!!!!

Nicole guessed exactly right, so next time I see you (which I think will be soon!) I have a fantastic prize all ready for you.

Thanks for playing.

Stay tuned for the "Guess how many pages" game, Scrap N On The River edition, coming July 2009. (Guess what, Lisa Bearson will be at that crop/convention! If you are in the area, come join me!)

Professional Bull Riding @ the Qwest Center as told by ME

I am famous.
Well, not famous, but I have now written an article for Event Chaser and I couldn't be more excited about it.
Go here to see the full write up.
Make sure you leave a comment on their site...everybody loves comment love. Trust me. I am like a comment junkie, getting my highs on your hellos.

My Favorite Tradition

We don't have a lot of traditions in our house. We always have fried chicken for Bart's birthday, we always watch LSU football, and we always go to Carlos O'Kelly's for Cinco De Mayo (well, we went last year and thought we'd go back, even though the food is barely edible. Brennan for some crazy reason, loves it there)

But...there is one tradition...that I NEVER miss

National Scrapbook Day!!!

I know I make fun of "Hallmark Holidays". But, this holiday. This MOST CROPPIEST OF CROPPY DAYS is NEVER missed.

In 2006, Jackson was born on April 6. NSD was May 5-6 that year. Did having a one month old child keep me from attending?

NOPE!

I pumped so Bart has plenty of milk, then I went on my merry way to scrap the night away. Friday night I fed Jackson, went to scrap, and came home for the night six hours later, just in time to feed Jackson and go to bed.

Saturday I fed Jackson, went to scrap, and went home every six hours to feed Jackson, with the other times him eating more expressed milk. I was NOT going to miss this scrappy day. (Good thing we lived about 5-7 minutes from the store)

This year, I am going to The Scrapbook Store with Diana again. We had a great time last year and I really love the atmosphere. The owners act a lot like Jennifer used to at Special Memories. I still wonder why that store closed in Baton Rouge...

So, this year, I am going to Brennan's second baseball game (good thing it is at 9!) then I am getting dropped off for a day of scrapping. Bart gets to be Father of the Year...going back to the ball field to do group pictures at 11:15 with all three boys in tow. Then he gets to go hang out with the crew (Ethan will drink formula, so I am not coming home...I will just pump when I need "relief", which is weird but okay b/c one of the owners will also be pumping) while I scrap until I just can't preserve any more memories.

PRIZE ALERT:
Take a guess at how many pages I will complete on Saturday. If your guess is exactly correct, you will win a prize of my choosing. I am not sure what, but it will be something scrapbook related.

***edited to add: You can enter until I get back on the computer, probably Sunday afternoon. So, even if I am done scrapbooking, feel free to take a guess. Now that I get 15% off my total purchase if I say, "Happy National Scrapbook Weekend" or something like that (Diana, I hope you remember), your prize just got a little better.***
