Today was a very sad day. We took our dog, Dixie, to the vet to get her spayed. She gets to stay overnight at a "slumber party" with the other dogs. (Give me a break, I am sure they will eat pizza, gossip, and fix each others fur.) Brennan was so distraught at leaving Dixie behind that the only way to get him into his car seat was to promise treats for both Dixie and Brennan at Target (yes, I do resort to bribery...show me a mother who never has, and I'll show you a flying monkey). Brennan reluctantly agreed, but he cried all the way to Target. He cheered up when we got inside and he picked his treat-a small assortment of jelly-belly candies. Brennan picked a sour fish, gummy worms, and a few jelly beans. For less than $.50, I have a happy boy again.
So, as we're leaving the parking lot, I notice Jackson has Brennan's big sour fish. Jackson can eat a lot of things, but I felt that the sour fish was a bit too "big boy" for him. I took it away and asked Brennan if he wanted it back.
"No, Mommy, it's rotten." was his reply.
What?
Then I decide to ask Jackson, "Do you want it back?" (He had given it up with a tear)
A very distinctive "Un-unh" followed by furious heading shaking ensued.
This is Jackson's first time to put a word with the no-no head shake. It was very funny and to the point.
I decide to taste the fish myself. Gross! How could anyone want something that sour? I agree-'Un-unh' for me, too.
(In case you can't tell from the tiny picture, Brennan is crying and has red blotches all over his face. This happens any time he gets very upset, such as today.)

1 Words to brighten my day:
Awww...poor Brennan; it's always tough to leave your pet overnight at the vet's office. I can't believe how big Jackson is now. I guess it has been a while since we have seen you guys.
