Primary Thanks

The primary program was today. It went fairly well, although I, of course, saw the ways it can improve next year.
I figured out why I dread things like this. Not because I mind doing it, or feel inadequate when faced with the task at hand. I loved creating the program and watching it all come together. I don't mind the work it took or the worry I had today.
What I dread is the after. When everyone comes up and says, "Good job." I'd rather if people just kept their opinions to themselves. Tell me nothing, because I don't like to modestly say, "Oh, thanks, it wasn't me, but the children." Because then they are going to retaliate with "No, you did so much, blah, blah, blah."
I know what I did. I guess I just don't want a lot of glory for it, because that isn't why I do it. I do it so the children can shine and learn of Christ. I do it so that I can magnify my calling and better my talents.
So, next time somebody does something nice, think twice before you congratulate them or thank them...they may just want to humbly slip out the back door.

5 Words to brighten my day:

I thought it turned out wonderfully! The kids really came through and I think it was a great experience for them. Even though you don't want thanks (even if you do deserve them :D) I just want to say at the risk of being slightly irreverent that I don't think there's anything wrong with an occasional dose of good-old-fashioned-healthy egotism. That said, wasn't the piano playing spectacular?

emily, your piano skills are top notch, and i mean that whole-heartedly. you have such a great talent...i am a bit jealous of you, to be perfectly honest! thanks for making the kids sound great!

I really wish I had the discipline to finish learning the piano. I made it 3 years, which is not nearly the level I'd like to be at. I'm sure the program was great, and it's perfectly okay to accept some compliments.

Thanks Jessica, even though I really wasn't fishing for compliments, just being a dork :D Now I wish I could slip out the back door. "The Back Door in Cyber Space"...sounds like a good mystery/suspense/crime novel...
