Hudson is almost here! The shower where the cake's font matched the banner's and why that makes me excited.

My first memory of Trina is at the Oakview Mall at a MOM play date. It was a tiny bit creepy because I'd never met her and she mentioned something about my life.
What?
How'd she know that?
Oh, because she read my blog.
That automatically made me like her a little.

Then, she starts talking about adopting. How she and her husband were going to adopt a child from South Korea. This was over two years ago.

Since then, we've become good friends...and one of my sons and one of her daughters are an "item" :) Jackson was just devastated when Cadence started kindergarten and was no longer attending play dates.

And Wednesday, that dream of adoption becomes a reality as they will be welcoming baby Hudson home!
This past Saturday, we had a baby shower in Hudson's honor. There was delicious food (oh, um, if you are going to make pigs-n-a-blanket, don't misplace your hotdogs when you bring them home), cute decorations (made by me and my cricut), adorable handcrafted shirts (made by all the hostesses), and presents!

I decorated the cake using my mom's technique of using the cricut to cut the designs. I was very nervous to try it, but I think it turned out okay. Next time I know to roll the gumpaste a little thinner, but other then that, I'd say it was fine. The cool thing about using the cricut is that it tied everything together. The decorations, plates, and cake were all cream, brown, and blue striped and using the cricut to cut gumpaste made my cake match everything. So stinkin' cool!

Before I get all braggy and dorky, I'll end this. Because I could go on and on about how excited I was to tie the whole color scheme/font/decor together on a cake. But, I won't. Because I'm not a dork...right? right? right?

I am excited to be able to meet Hudson. A lot of prayers have went into getting him "home" and I know Trina's family is just giddy to get to meet him. She's shared a lot of her journey on my mom's group forums, and I appreciate that. It's been really neat getting to experience the journey with her, even if by simply offering support.

Oh, and don't forget to enter my giveaway for a $25 gift certificate to be used for whatever you like at the Posh Papoose.

Jess! That is awesome! The cake and decorations turned out so beautiful. You have out done yourself again. If ever you need to make some serious cash, you could totally cater AND decorate for parties. Seriously. Geez, you're amazing!

Ok I am IMPRESSED! I had no idea a cricut could cut gum paste. That's awesome. The cake looks great and so do the decorations. How exciting for your friend. Congrats to them.
