Testing out Cake

Martha Stewart's Week of the Cupcake has kind of convinced me to drop the whole dino cake for Jackson's upcoming birthday and stick with cute cupcakes. She had Jennifer from Trophy Cupcakes on her show today and I am about to go to the grocery store to pick up the ingredients for Chocolate Graham Cracker Cupcakes with Toasted Marshmallow Frosting.

All of the cupcakes looked so cute and delicious that I just don't know which one to pick. One that they advertised at Trophy Cupcakes was a Hummingbird cupcake, so a bit of searching on google produced this recipe. I am hoping it will be delicious, because I am going to make it for Jackson's birthday. I am thinking anything from Southern Living should be good, though.
Now, I know you are telling yourself, but "Jackson's only two. Little kids won't appreciate this."
No, but the mommy's and daddy's will. For the kids, I will make white cupcakes with sprinkles, that I will put around wrapped boxes, like presents.
I am so excited.

Oops...better go wake up Jackson, or not only will we be late to get Brennan from preschool, but we won't have time to get the ingredients!!!!!!!!

5 Words to brighten my day:

What is up with the trophy on that cupcake (the Trophy Cupcakes website)? Jess, YOU could make a better trophy than that. It looks like a dingleberry.

The recipes sound yummy though and the Hummingbird recipe is very close to the Southern Living recipe of Carrot Cake (except without carrots, duh!) that I got from Jeni.

She posted that recipe back in September of last year on her blog and it is tasty so I knoe your recipe will turn out divine.

If you get a minute, go to Barnes and Noble or Amazon (or bookstore of choice) online and look up 'Hello, Cupcake!'. IT's the new book that I MUST have for Peyton's parties.

They always have cute ideas too on Martha Stewarts website under the kids section. You can just look up cupcakes on there and a gazillion will pop up.

Okay. enough rambling. I'll shut up now.

My Aunt Oveda makes a hummingbird cake for every family event!

Seriously, you can't just post link to delicious looking cupcakes when today is only day two of me cutting out junk!

I'm making Blueberry cupcakes with Lemon Scented frosting for Calyn's birthday.

"Lemon Scented" is Cooking Light's fancy way of saying normal frosting with lemon juice and zest added in:)

Actually, you just dump some Pledge in the frosting.
