What am I gonna do???

I don't know how I am going to handle Brennan starting preschool. Now, this may not sound like a big deal to many, but to me, it is a HUGE deal. My baby is old enough to go somewhere without me every day, for three hours a day. He is old enough to tell someone he has to go potty, not be asked every hour if he needs to go. Brennan is old enough to be someone's friend, or become someone's worst nightmare. I can hardly believe four years have passed by already. Although I don't want my baby back, I sure would like it if we could just slow down time a little bit and savor those moments that are so precious and sweet and pass by so quickly.
I may just have a nervous breakdown.

5 Words to brighten my day:

I think the first day is gonna hit me hard too, but at least we're expecting it. Get out the tissues and let yourself cry. That's our right for 4 (in my case 3) years of nurturing our little bambinos at home! I think it would be sad if it didn't affect us at all. Don't get me wrong, I am certainly looking forward to Laurel getting some life experiences away from me, but the growing up so fast part is TOUGH!

I keep thinking that Peyton is just growing so SLOW but then I remember that I started watching Stuart Beal at the same age Peyton is now and Stuart is now 4 years old! Time really does fly by- it seems like only a short while ago I was a kid and now I have a kid! As an old Montessori Assistant teacher for preschool aged kids, I can tell you that even though it's a big seperation for you, it does wonders for them socially and it gives them an academic boost for elementary school. Even if Brennen cries the first few times that you leave, just know that it's brief and once they get engaged in their environment they are hard to pull away. He'll make friends quickly, and friends for him is a plus for you- then you can swap playdates and have some free time (especially if they have siblings close to Jackson's age). I know you'll enjoy the one on one time you'll get with Jackson too and with only one kid to buckle in the car, you'll be able to get some of your errands done faster. You'll get through the first few weeks and pretty soon, you'll be excited to see what art work and stories come home with him (as well as all of his handmade projects for Mother's Day, Christmas and etc.). Cherish this milestone- your baby has come a long way!

thanks lexi. you are so sweet. i know he will love it...i bet there are no tears, except at the end of the day when it is time to come home...from him. i won't let him see me if i do get upset, although i am usually pretty good at staying 'strong' when needed. your comment is helpful, though.

It will definitely be hard at first but it gets better, I promise!! He will have a blast and you are probably right when you stated that he will cry because he has to come home. I remember McKenna's first day last year, I went to pick her up fully expecting her to come running to me telling me how much she missed me. WRONG!!! I actually had to chase her down and reassure her that she would be able to go back the next day.
