Don't Ask, Don't Tell

Don't ask, don't tell.

A phrase I think we need to use a little more often.
Why?

Well, some of us hot mama's have a bit of a baby belly, even if we've never had a baby. Even if our baby is actually an adorable three year old. Even if our baby is a snarly teenager.

DON'T ASK IF A WOMAN IS PREGNANT...EVER.

I personally believe if someone asks this question, the woman on the receiving end of this question should have the power and right to punch the asker in the face...then the person who asked the question will adopt the don't tell part of the policy...as in, "Don't tell where you got that black eye because it's just rude that you even considered asking someone if they are just FAT or with child."

I know I've been asked a time or time. At least once before I ever considered having kids. Then there was this one lady at church in La who always asked me when I was due...I wish my law of punching had been in effect.

What things do you think should have the "Don't Ask, Don't Tell" policy in place?

Over the holidays I was asked twice if I was pregnant and once if I was "eating for two". Needless to say, I agree with your policy and think we should institute the punching law immediately!!

I agree with asking if someone is pg and want to also add "when are you going to have a baby"-this was so hard when we were having trouble getting pg and "when are you going to have another"

I agree with Dawn, I can relate to the "when are you having a baby" or right now it's more like "when is Markus going to finish school" If I had $10 for every time I heard that I wouldn't have to work and could put my own self through college :)

I whole-heartedly agree to. For some reason it seems to always be older women asking me that. The same women are the ones who come up and touch your baby and ask all kinds of personal questions. I don't really want to punch an older lady, but come on....mind your doggone bees wax!

People are way too nosy, I agree and very bold and rude. One of the nurses in my delivery room said, "so you're having another boy. Are you going to try for a girl?" I just looked her with loathe during my contraction and said, "not today!" she's lucky i didn't spit.

Completely off the subject- have you come up with any cute, fun nicknames for Ethan yet? I know you were mulling over what to call him a while back and was wondering if any have stuck {either from you, Bart or the boys}. I love nicknames- I think Peyton has like 5 or so that we use interchangeably!

I wish I were pregnant sometimes, just so I could have an excuse for my "baby" belly that seems to grow even with NO baby in there! The rudest comment I received was when I was pregnant with my first. I was about 5 months along, and a man at church commented: "Really starting to let yourself go...look's like the honeymoon's over, eh?" They were lucky I had a good sense of humor.

Okay so this isn't an are you pregnant story but I would have loved to have a punching law at the time. I had someone ask if Josh was my only child he had just turned 18 and graduated. When I said no, she continued that it was nice to have Grandma's at church like me to help out with the kids. Hello I was only 34! and pregnant with triplets at the time.

What about the "You're still here?!" you get at church when you're so big you wish you would burst? As if you are so happy to be still waddling along!

Also, I would add don't say to an obviously pregnant woman "Wow, you're huge. You must be ready to pop any day."
I got this all the time when I was only 6 months pregnant. It's embarrassing when people point out just how huge you are.
