Bart and I are going here tonight.
Last time I was there, I was with a good friend, her son, and Brennan and it was more for the kids then it was the adults.
This time, the show doesn't even START until eight p.m. and that is one hour PAST my boys bedtime.
This time, we are paying a babysitter to come sit on our couch and watch t.v. while Bart and I get to enjoy one thing we love...a good concert!
Who?
Why...DEATH CAB FOR CUTIE.
We almost didn't get to go. Bart mentioned the concert a LONG time ago, and it went to the back burner of my mind. Then, one day, I was cleaning out the INBOX, saw the email he had sent, and asked if he still wanted to go. He (of course) said yes, so we looked for tickets...only $35. I suggested waiting until Friday (it was maybe Wed.) to get them b/c that is when the income tax return came in and the only reason I would spend that much money for a concert. (Now, when I was in college that was nothing!) Then, for some reason, I went ahead and bought them. Good thing b/c they SOLD OUT that night! Now the tickets we have are selling for big bucks (according to Bart who checked some site) and I kind if wish I could sell mine and use the money to buy a cricut (yep, they are apparently going for THAT much!). Oh, well...we will have fun.
So, now it is time to get off my BOTTOM and get busy cleaning. When a babysitter has to put the kids in bed is a great motivator to get ALL of the house clean, not just the rooms you "see".
Oh, one last thing...no cameras are allowed in the concert. I am SO BUMMED. Maybe I sneak the pocket sized one in...

No Tears Today
There's something kind of scary about a dude dressed up in a giant costume pretending to be an imaginary character beloved by children all over the world.
I get this.
The boys lived in fear this Christmas that I would drag them to the mall and make them hang out with a creepy old dude in red pants with a scraggly beard Santa Claus, requesting they SMILE for the camera. Well, joke's on them...I was too cheap this year to do that. (However, a few friends have since told me that you can snap a few pictures for free when visiting the mall Santa so next year the boys are not safe!)
Today some friends (a small group, just 17 or so...) of MOM's went to a local outdoor shopping mall for lunch and a visit with the Easter Bunny. Brennan seemed excited...he had met Casey the blue lion and Herman the peanut at the Omaha Royals Family Fest Wednesday and he was excited to pose for a picture with them, making me believe his fear of mascots/imaginary childhood friends was gone. Jackson was NOT happy to see the crazy blue lion and the weird nut walking around Rosenblatt Stadium, so I just knew he would not like the see the Easter Bunny.
Well, I was wrong. I guess there is safety in numbers because Jackson went up to see the creepy man pretending to be a bunny Easter Bunny with all the other kids (there were at least 7 of them) and I got a decent picture of all three boys sitting with the loser who couldn't even get a job selling watches in a back alley highly skilled man in a bunny suit...and no bribery or threats were needed.

I Just Can't Do It
- I am unable to make a chocolate chip cookies. My grandma Burke made fabulous ones (I am sure my other grandma's make good ones, too...I just don't remember) and my mom makes KILLER ones...but I.CANNOT.BAKE.THEM. I have tried. I even went so far as to try and make them at my mom's house, using her ingredients and mixer and oven, but they still don't turn out the same.
- I really love rice crispy treats. So do the boys. But, when I make them they look and taste like concrete blocks. This really makes me sad. I mean, a box of rice crisps, bag of marshmallows and a stick of butter is cheap, like less then $5 for a HUGE pan of delicious stickiness. To buy that many treats in a box would cost at least twice that. So, we sit. And miss out. And wait for rice crispy treats to go on sale.
